Over the last nine months Certus IT has been working with leading south Wales based chartered surveyors, Cooke & Arkwright, to upgrade their computer network.
 The IT managed support services deal has included a major technology refresh at both of Cooke & Arkwright’s offices in Cardiff and Bridgend, not only providing improved performance and the flexibility needed for future growth but also reducing running costs through virtualising its servers.
Virtualisation is the process by which separate servers are consolidated into a virtual environment that can be hosted on a smaller number of physical host machines, saving space and costs.
The set-up provides almost immediate system recovery so that, if there is a server failure, it can be up and running again in a matter of minutes instead of the three to five days it typically takes, helping to overcome problems with downtime that can have a direct impact on the bottom line.
Significant savings can also be made in terms of the reduced space, power and air conditioning costs associated with housing, powering and cooling more traditional server infrastructures.

| Newport Manufacturer Invests in New IT Infrastructure - Thursday, December 23, 2010 Shine Food Machinery introduces new IT infrastructure...
Newport based Shine Food Machinery has invested £70,000 in a new IT infrastructure system funded in part by a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.
 Trading for more than 30 years, Shine Food Machinery manufactures and installs bespoke commercial kitchens and employs 40 staff. Its client base is made up of public and private sector organisations including schools, universities, restaurants and the Ministry of Defence.
Certus IT, based at Celtic Springs, was appointed to implement a complete technology infrastructure overhaul for Shine Food Machinery comprising back and front office hardware and software. In addition, the technology specialist will provide a three year maintenance service for the new system.

| National Expansion for Certus IT - Wednesday, September 22, 2010Strategic Partnership takes Certus IT into the Fifth Dimension...
IT consultancy Certus IT has won a major contract and formed a strategic partnership with UK software provider, Fifth Dimension Systems, which will see the south Wales company expand its offering around the UK.
Certus IT has secured a £210,000, three-year contract with FD Systems to provide ongoing IT managed support services and business continuity services.
In addition, a new partnership will see Certus IT work closely with the company, which has approximately 130 staff in six UK offices, to provide an integrated infrastructure, IT managed services and software offering for its clients.
 FD Systems, which is headquartered in Nant Garw and has a turnover of £13 million, delivers finance software solutions, such as Sage 50, Sage 200, Sage Line 500 and Sage 1000, for around 1500 clients including United Utilities, Discovery Foods and Companies House. The new deal will see Certus IT become the preferred IT supplier for the company.
In order to deliver this, Certus IT will undertake a 12-month phased expansion into FD Systems’ offices in Camberley, Southampton, Milton Keynes, and Leeds.
Paul Brown, business development director at Certus IT said: “Thanks to an extremely solid financial performance last year and profits 67% ahead of forecast for our first quarter, we have been looking for the opportunity to expand our offering from south Wales to the rest of the UK.
