Is cloud computing right for your business?
Cloud computing is the generic term used for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet.
There are three main categories:
- Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Iaas)
- Platform-as-a-Service (Paas)
- Software-as-a-Service (Saas)
The name cloud computing comes from the cloud symbol that's often used to represent the Internet in technical diagrams.
A cloud service is sold on demand and users can have as much or as little of a service as they want. It is fully managed by the provider (you need nothing more than a personal computer and Internet access).
With advancing changes in virtualisation and ever improving internet speeds and a market driven by a weaker economy no wonder there has been a surge of interest in cloud computing.
